𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐚𝐣 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐥 : सियासी हक़-तर्क की तफ़्तीश

राजकुमारी दीया कुमारी के ताजमहल पर दिए बयान के बहाने जयपुर राजघराने और मिल्कियत के दावे का मज़ाक तो खूब बना लेकिन राजकुमारी का बयान अधपका ज़रूर कहा जा सकता है पर 'ज़मीन' पर रही जयपुर राजघराने की मिल्कियत का दावा कतई खोखला नहीं है। इसका सबूत है नीचे दिए रेफरेंस, जो साबित करते हैं कि ताजमहल को बनाने के लिए शाहजहां ने 'ज़मीन' आमेर (जयपुर) के राजघराने से ही ली थी। (ध्यान रहे, इनमें कहीं ताजमहल के 'तेजो महालय' होने की बात नहीं मिलती है।)

• 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐡 एक मशहूर अमरीकी क्यूरेटर और स्कॉलर रहे, जिनकी 1985 में छपी किताब 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚: 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝟏𝟑𝟎𝟎-𝟏𝟗𝟎𝟎 में वो लिखते हैं:

"On the death of his (Prince Khurram) favorite wife, Mumtaz-Mahal, land that had belonged to Raja Man Singh was acquired as the site for her tomb-the Taj Mahal."

• 𝐆𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐬𝐨𝐧 एक प्रख्यात इतिहासकार हैं और भारतीय इतिहास & स्थापत्य कला के प्रोफेसर हैं। इनकी 2006 में आई किताब 𝐉𝐚𝐢𝐩𝐮𝐫 𝐍𝐚𝐦𝐚: 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 में Tillotson लिखते हैं:

"It was well known that the plot of land in Agra on which the Taj Mahal was built had belonged to Amber.."

• 𝐓𝐚𝐣 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐥: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐥𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐨𝐦𝐛 जिसे 𝐖 𝐄 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐲 & 𝐙 𝐀 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐢 ने कंपाइल किया, इसमें 2 फ़रमान दर्ज हैं जो शाहजहां के दरबार से जयपुर के राजा जय सिंह के नाम भेजे गए, उनकी ताजमहल के लिए दी गई ज़मीन की तस्दीक करते हुए:

"Copy of Royal Farman to Raja Jai Singh, Dated 26 Jumada IT 1043, Sixth Regnal Year

-Dated 28 December 1633, its purpose is to bestow on Raj Jai Singh the title to four pieces of property in

Akbarabad--referred to as "estates" or "mansions" (haveli)--in exchange for the haveli, formerly belonging

to his grandfather Raja Man Singh, which he had voluntarily donated for the construction of the tomb of

Mumtaz Mahal."

प्रख्यात इतिहासकार William Dalrymple के ट्वीट के बाद मेरी रेफरेंस लिस्ट में एक और किताब का नाम जुड़ गया है, जो तस्दीक करती है कि ताज महल बनाने के लिए शाहजहां ने जयपुर राजघराने के राजा जय सिंह से ही ज़मीन ली थी:

• पढ़िए मशहूर कला इतिहासकार 𝐄𝐛𝐛𝐚 𝐊𝐨𝐜𝐡 की किताब 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐣 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐥: 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐚, जहां वे लिखती हैं:

"The site where Shah Jahan wanted to build theTaj Mahal

had been in the possession of the Khachhwaha rajas of Amber-the first Rajput house to cooperate with the Mughals, under Akbar-

since Man Singh (d. 1614). Shah Jahan made a point of acquiring theland legally from Man Singh's grandson, Mirza Raja Jai Singh, bygiving him in exchange four other mansions from the crown estateat Agra.."

"The site chosen for the Taj Mahal lies on the right bank of the Yamuna, on the southern edge of the city. The property-one of the riverfront residences of Agra -had belonged to Raja ManSingh of Amber, and had come down to the raja's grandson, JaiSingh. Shah Jahan was drawn to it because, Qazwini says, 'fromthe point of view of loftiness and pleasantness [it] appeared to be

worthy of the burial of that one who dwells in Paradise"." Jai

Singh was prepared to present the property to Shah Jahan, but

the emperor, anxious to proceed without a shade of doubt in the

sensitive matter of his queen 's last resting place, insisted on givinghim in exchange four other mansions at Agra..."

• इनके अलावा 𝐊𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫 की

𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐡 𝐉𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡; 𝐃. 𝐊. 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐭 की 𝐉𝐚𝐢𝐩𝐮𝐫: 𝐆𝐞𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 और इतिहासकार 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐢 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐡 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐰𝐚𝐫 की ताजमहल पर की गई रिसर्च में ताजमहल बनाने के लिए ज़मीन का जयपुर राजघराने द्वारा दिए जाने के सबूत मौजूद हैं। 

लेकिन दोबारा कह दूं, 'तेजो महालय' जैसा कुछ होने का दावा is not Oak'ay !

यह भी याद रहे, कनॉट प्लेस का नाम राजीव चौक कर देने से यह ड्यूक ऑफ कनॉट या राजीव गांधी की मिल्कियत नहीं हो जाती। इतिहास में कनॉट प्लेस जयपुर घराने की ज़मीन जयसिंहपुरा पर 20वीं सदी में बसाया 'बिज़नेस सेंटर' ही रहेगा ! शाहजहां द्वारा बनाई गई जामा मस्जिद गुज्जरों की ज़मीन 'पहाड़ी भोजला' पर बनाई गई ही दर्ज रहेगी। इतिहास में बंगला साहिब गुरुद्वारा भी आमेर वाले मिर्ज़ा राजा जय सिंह द्वारा सिख गुरुओं को श्रद्धा और दानस्वरूप भेंट किया गया बंगला ही रहेगा। चण्डीगढ़ नेहरू का विज़न हो सकता है पर रहेगा उन्हीं लोगों की मिल्कियत जिनके 28 गांव उजाड़कर इसे बसाया गया। 

पॉलिटिकली करेक्ट होने के चक्कर में इतिहास में अपने पाले के नायकों के अलावा सबको खारिज कर देना वैसा ही है जैसा पिछले 70 साल के इतिहास को ख़ारिज किया जा रहा है।
