Let's Grow

With a vision of promoting sustainability, literally at grass-root level, we decided to undertake Farming Experiment on Organic (Conventional) lines on one of our fields.

Prepared the beds for cropping vegetable seeds. Flood Irrigation is what is generally practiced; but optimum watering was ensured this season instead.
Initially laughed at, but my experiment to generate LEAF MOULD in an abandoned PITCHER turned out to be useful as all the dry leaves in autumn found their right place. (The quantity of Leaf Mould generated wasn't sufficient enough to be used in farm, but was used in Garden Pots though)

studied the state-sponsored research institutes' manual on the scientific cropping techniques.

Biggest regret: Not exactly Heirloom seeds were sown but Hybrid varieties for Turnips and Palak. Thankfully, the garlic and potato seeds were organic.

and finally...the buds.. appeared out of the damp soil. one word: BLISS
the 'green' fruits (veggies) of labor ;-)
sadly, due to logging in potato beds, the end-product was comparatively smaller in size
but MOST IMPORTANTLY, these comparatively small sized POTATOES are 100% ORGANIC. Now tell, Size matters or health does? ;-)
